Italian Nebbiolo

Grape Description

• Early to bud and last to ripen, often harvested mid-October
• Associated with the Piedmont region where the renowned Barolo and Barbaresco wines are made

Juice Description

• High acidity and even higher tannins
• A synthesis of old and new world winemaking techniques are utilized in the production of Nebbiolo most notable in the Barolo or Barbaresco vintages where shorter fermentations replace the more traditional long maceration periods.

Wine Description

• Needs time to age, as it is a highly tannic wine that does not develop quickly. This is a wine for those with patience as it aromas will develop into a wine with violets, tar, raspberries, tobacco and truffles. Consumed young tar and roses are on the nose.
• Lightly coloured; as it ages it will take on the brick hue that is characteristic of Barolo.
